No story can truly describe the richness of who we are. We tell so many stories about ourselves, but they can never fully describe who we are in our essence. We have borrowed stories from others, from our family, from our friends and colleagues, and from society. Over the years we allow these stories to define us instead of being the author of our own unique plot. We have identified ourselves with these stories.
To truly know oneself is to drop the stories all together and to be with what is happening for us in real time. Not to stay stuck in the past, and not to project into the future. The path to that realm is through our breath. When we breathe we are fully present with what is happening for us right now. This allows us to develop a deeper, more accurate and empowering view of ourselves.
In this weekend retreat you will explore the power of your own breath to reclaim your wholeness. You will connect to your own essence, which is untethered by thoughts of what you are or should be. On your journey to wholeness you will connect to the pain and suffering these stories have caused you and work your way through them toward the path of your highest self.
In daily life you probably have the tendency to avoid pain or park it when it is inconvenient. You distract yourself from feeling discomfort, which causes you to stay stuck in the stories you have created. Breathwork gives you a powerful tool to take ownership of your stories. By breathing into these mental, emotional and physical pains you can become fully present with your body and therefore fully present to yourSELF.
About the Breathwork
In this powerful yet grounding breathwork experience you will unlock emotions, traumas and energy that has been suppressed within you so you can feel, heal and reclaim your true self.
Our emotions get trapped in our bodies. Often so trapped that we don’t even know they are driving our decisions in life. Conscious connected breathwork (or circular breathwork) is a way for the body to process these emotions, thoughts and ideas that we have been holding about ourselves. This powerful technique brings you into an altered state of consciousness. The conscious breath activates the autonomic nervous system in a way that takes the body through a process of moving into healing. The journey can be really gentle, or at times can be quite stimulating. For some it can be similar to a psychedelic journey, just by using your own breath. Therefore it is not always suitable for everyone.
Participating in breathwork sessions is not recommended if you:
- are pregnant
- have cardiovascular issues, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, use prescription blood thinners or have a history of aneurysms
- experience (epileptic) seizures, or strokes
- suffer from serious mental problems such as severe anxiety, bipolar disorder or psychosis
- have a detached retina or glaucoma
- suffer from osteoporosis whereby intense movement could cause physical issues
- Note: asthma is not a contraindication, but we ask you to bring your inhaler with you and let us know of your condition

Essa is a neuropsychologist, breathwork facilitator and massage therapist. In her sessions she uses somatic inquiry and breathwork to invite people to reconnect with the emotions and tensions that have been stored in the body. She uses powerful breathwork techniques to support people to break through their trauma and reconnect to their true essence. She works as a facilitator and therapist at Field Trip Health in The Netherlands, a clinic specializing in psychedelic-assisted therapy.
